Here is a photo of a caterpillar that hatched on our dining room table from a four-week-old bouquet.

My grandpa loved music. When he was in his 90s and I was in my teens, I put a pair of earbuds in his ears for the first - maybe only - time in his life. I don't remember what music I had playing in there. Based on the music I loved on that trip, it was probably 11:11 by Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire.

I do remember watching his face transform as the music flowed into the deepest caverns of his mind. It was like watching a miracle. He was an electrical engineer. He lived his whole life loving music and at the very end of it, this astonishing invention came into existence.

I'm usually complaining about the havoc that technology is constantly "wreaking on our lives". But as I sit here now, with Weezer's cover of Africa gloriously pouring into my soul, through my bluetooth earbuds, mindlessly handling tasks on my computer, I am so filled with the joy and peace that music brings.

Praise God for music. Praise God for technology. Praise God for inventions and inventors and electrical engineers.

P.S. Anyone else get Korsakov vibes at the beginning of that song?
